Anta Rani’s Dream Come True

Anta Rani an Artisan from “Kot Bari Mahila Samiti” has been working with CORR-The Jute Works since 1985.

She was born in a very poor family. She got involved in jute work through her mother and sister. They had no support other than their father's ancestral home. After the marriage of her elder sister, she took the reins of the family by making jute craft with her mother and took the responsibilities of her younger brothers and sisters on her shoulders. Further disaster befell the family when her father died. She and her mother made living by making jute products. She made her brothers and sisters educated. Later her mother married her off to a goldsmith boy. After marriage, she thought it was time to be happy in her life, maybe she would not have to face any more hardships. But she was no longer happy. Because her husband's income was not that good, it became very difficult for them to run their household on his husband's income alone. Therefore, Anta Rani has to rejoin the work of making jute products. She started making jute products with confidence and boldness. She used her income to support her husband and their family and 3 children.

As she herself could not get the scope of higher education, her dream was to educate her children in higher education. She mentioned that CORR-The Jute Works showed a light of hope in his dark life of poverty. Today she is a successful mother because she has been able to fulfill that dream. Today her elder son is a software engineer, elder daughter is doing her post-graduation in microbiology and younger daughter is studying in 9th standard. Now she is an idol and inspiration for other Artisans. She is grateful to the “Samity” to stand and support her during the struggling time of her life. She wants to serve the “Samity” as long as she is workable. She wished the prosperity and success of CORR-The Jute Works.
