The Honorable Prime Minister of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina handed over the National Export Trophy and certificates for 2011-12 and 2012-13 among the export organizations for their significant role in overseas trade and thus earning foreign currency. The awards were distributed at a program organized jointly by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on 28 August 2016.
CJW has achieved Silver Trophy for both years under the Handicraft category. On behalf of CJW: Sebastian Rozario, Assistant Executive Director (Finance & Admin) of Caritas Bangladesh (former Deputy Director of CJW) and Ananda P. Gomes, Deputy Director of CJW received the Trophies.
Presided over by Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Ministry Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamun, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad and EPB Vice Chairman Mafruha Sultana spoke at the function.
In her speech, Prime Minister urged businesspeople to explore new export destinations and product diversification to reduce overdependence on garments and a few markets. The Prime Minister also recommended the businessmen set up more labour intensive industrial units so that more young people can be employed in those factories. “We’ll provide all support,” she said, assuring also facilities necessary to boost trade and commerce, industrialization and investment.
Sister Mary Lillian SMRA- Life trustee, Milton Suranjit Ratna – Manager Development & Information, Bayazid Alom Chowdhury – Manager Production and Francis Kubi – Manager Finance & Accounts were present in the CJW contingent.
